Eyes on Me

I met this gentleman in the Theatre of Ynyestre.

As I stepped into the empty hall in Ynyestere, I froze. Behind the piano sat a human - too tall and heavy-built to be a Haranyan. I stopped in my tracks. I was in the middle of the audience area, in full view of the foreigner. I couldn't help but notice how his gold-and-red Epherium armor gleamed in the candlelight, and realised how outmatched I would be. Will we fight? Do I have time to run? My hand reached for the hilt of my sword.

The Nuian looked up. He did not stand, nor did he make a move towards me. Instead, he looked back down at the keyboard before him, and struck an ivory key.

The note echoed soulfully in the empty hall. He started playing, slowly at first, and soon, a song blossomed into fullness. A melodious tune filled the empty space, seemingly seeping into every nook and crevice of the building, into my ears, and under my skin.

I stalked cautiously forward until I was at the bottom of the stage. The Nuian began playing a second song. When he was done, he looked up, met my gaze, and smiled.

For an instant, I felt as though someome released a fawn in my stomach.
