Other than Skimble, I also travel with other animal companions. Today I'll introduce one to you.
This is Soupy the elk. I picked him up as a tiny little calf in Gwenoid Forest in Nuia and brought him back to Haranya. I called him Soupy because he would make these elk sounds that sounded like he was slurping soup.
Travelling with Soupy is always a surreal experience. With Skimble, you can always tell how he feels because he shows his feelings without hesitation with his many different purrs and growls, the different body languages, and the way he bounds and charges at things. Soupy, on the other hand, is very different. He is not particularly talkative and never asked for much, always preferring to simply run quietly and gracefully.
Perhaps it is partially because of his nature, and also because we don't have a common language to speak in, since I am a Haranyan Firran, and he is a Nuian elk. But that doesn't mean he doesn't tell you how he is feeling or what he wants. What makes me appreciate Soupy is that somehow, we always find other ways to understand each other. Sometimes, all it takes is a turning of the head at a scenery, or a worried sidewards glance at a Nuian in the distance, and he would understand.

Did I also mention he also trots like a dancer, and has an elegant way of jumping over the tallest of obstacles and widest of rivers?
Travelling with Soupy strengthened my belief that friendship can be forged, no matter how different you are, as long as both parties make the effort to understand and be good to the other!
